Materials and tools needed to make 3 kg of curd soap

Ingredients

2.5 kg of waste oil or leftover soap scraps (non-waste oils like coconut oil or lard also work)
500 grams of sodium hydroxide – A potent chemical; be sure to review the section on safe handling of NaOH.
5 liters of water, best rainwater or distilled water
1 - 2 kg of salt

Tools

Stainless steel or galvanized pot (30 liters)- Essential for soap making. Do not use aluminium pots, and reserve this pot exclusively for soap making..

Large wooden spoon
Simple molds- Traditional wooden molds work well, or you can repurpose containers like milk or juice cartons.
Cloths for lining the mold bottom
(Optional but helpful) Hand blender
Gas, electric, or fire-powered heat source
Gram scale

The Curd Soap Making Online Course runs for two months, from March 1, 2025, to May 1, 2025. This gives you ample time to dive deep into the traditional craft of soap making at your own pace while still receiving guided support every step of the way.

You’ll begin by exploring the course materials, including instructional videos and detailed guides on Tinkific. During this time, you’ll also gather the necessary raw materials for soap making, setting you up for success.

After the initial first week, we’ll meet every Saturday via Zoom. We’re based in Central Europe! Here’s what that means for you:
